Happy Monday, lovelies! I hope y’all had a delightfully spooky Halloween. Ours was fairly low key. I spent the first half of the day going with a friend to buy her wedding dress (!!!) and then getting brunch (tacos, duh!). It feels so strange to be at the age where I’m watching friends get married and it actually makes sense, and it’s so much fun. She looked so gorgeous in her gown!

Afterwards I came home and attempted to make a batch of cookies, but they turned out to be inedible. It’s always disappointing when that happens, but alas, I have never claimed to be a good cook, and failure is part of the game. I guess I’ll have to try a new recipe next weekend!

The most exciting part of the night was the Trick or Treaters. This is the first time JB and I have lived in a place that has enough children around to trick or treat. It was so cute to see all the kiddos dressed up 🙂 The only problem is that they were all so polite. Most only took one or two pieces of candy, so now we have a ton of Skittles, Airheads, Blow Pops, Sour Patch Kids, and Swedish Fish floating around… all of which, I’m happy to report, are vegan! If any of you Austin folks are reading this, please come and take these sweets off of my hands… I’m learning quickly that I have very little self control when it comes to candy.

Speaking of vegan treats, I received my October Petit Vour box last week. For those of you who don’t know, Petit Vour is a monthly subscription box filled with cruelty-free, vegan beauty goodies! You can sign up for your box here. As promised, this month was filled with all treats and no tricks (or harmful chemicals!). Here is what it contained:

1. Habit Cosmetics Nail Polish ($18.00) habitnailpolish
Description: Habit gives you the gorgeous color you crave and strengthens your nails (that’s the Myrrh extract at work), all without the harmful chemicals found in other brands.

My thoughts: Although I adore the color, I’ve found that this polish seems pretty prone to chipping. To be fair, I did not apply a base or a top coat when I wore it; however, several coats did not make it through the day. I’m going to give it another shot later this week, but this was currently my least favorite product from this month. I do love the bamboo cap, though. Not only does it look great, but that also means less plastic was used.

2. Hana Organic Skincare Eye Oil ($40.00) hanaeyeoil
Description: The delicate area around your eyes will love the gentle, soothing and smoothing properties of this nourishing eye oil

My thoughts: When I first opened this month’s box, I did not think that Hana’s eye oil would be my favorite product of the month, but boy, was I wrong! I’ve been using this oil twice a day (after I wake up and right before bed), and I do think it helps relieve any under-eye puffiness. The best part is that it absorbs relatively quickly, so I’m able to wear it underneath my makeup.

3. Ursa Major of VT Fantastic Face Wash ($28.00) ursaskincare
Description: A foaming gel cleanser with a natural brightening complex, this everyday essential is made with a spirited fusion of premium, whole essential oils including cedar, spearmint, lime, lemon, rosemary, black spruce, owyhee, vetiver and lavender. Face wash has never smelled so good!

My thoughts: I used Ursa Major’s Fantastic Face Wash a few times this week. My skin was noticeably clearer after two days of use, and I love the scent! It’s a little masculine, and for some reason it reminds me of those old Bath and Body Works colognes (any one remember Mountain Frost?), which is weirdly nostalgic for me. The gel tingles as it works it into a lather, and my skin felt energized after each use. This is definitely one of my favorite face washes that I’ve received from Petit Vour.

4. Essence Of Vali Sleep – A Bedtime Ritual ($18.00) sleepbedtimeritual
Description: This concentrated natural blend will ease you into a peaceful sleep and comfort you during times of stress.

My thoughts: I love the idea of including a relaxing scent in a beauty box. I’ve been working on a large project at work, and as we get closer and closer to our go-live date, it’s been growing more and more stressful. Sleep – A Bedtime Ritual has been easing into sleep each night on the wings of lavendar, cedarwood and ylang ylang. The scent is truly is relaxing and has helped me coax my racing mind into a place where it can find peace.

Product Updates from September 2015’s box:

Much to my dismay, I quickly finished my sample of MSC Skin Care Exfoliating Body Scrub. A new one is currently sitting in my Amazon cart. I am still enjoying my tube of Elate Lipstick in Lively.

What were your favorite products from this month’s box?
