On Friday, I came home to an excellent “start of the weekend” present: my September Petit Vour box had arrived! I like to try the products for a few days before I write about them here. I’ve had the weekend to test them all, which means it’s time for my review!

Haven’t heard of Petit Vour before? It’s a a monthly subscription box filled with cruelty-free, vegan beauty goodies! You can sign up for your box here.

petitvourseptember20151. Blissoma Cleanser ($31.99)
Description: Picture the perfect facial cleanser. It cleanses, but doesn’t strip. It nourishes and feeds, leaving skin in a better state than before. It heals. This concoction is 100% natural — a potent, botanical recipe filled with vitamins, antioxidants, polyphenals, and flavonoids.

My thoughts: Honestly, my first thought was “What are polyphenals and flavonoids?” Although their chemical composition varies, I think it’s safe to say that we can think of them all as interchangeable with “antioxidants.” Sounds good to me. If you’ve been reading this blog since its inception, you already know how I feel about facial cleansers. If you’re new (welcome!), I’ll keep it short: I don’t typically use them. They always strip my skin, and leave my face in “oil-production” mode. As a girl in her mid-twenties, I resent being left to look like a teenager going through puberty. That being said, Blissoma felt different. It’s consistency is almost oily, which I love, and left my face feeling supple. This is definitely gentle enough to use every day. In fact, I have been.

2. Elate Lipstick in Lively ($17.00)elate
Description: Keep your smile *elated* with this beautiful, all-natural, tinted lipstick. Made with shea and mango butter for ultimate softness and scented with organic vanilla essential oil — because who needs toxins in their life?

My thoughts: I just started experimenting with lipstick. Over the summer, I fell in love with Too Faced’s “Melted” line because a lot of them are cruelty free AND vegan. The Melted Marshmallow got me through August, and I’ve transitioned into Melted Berry for fall. I was so excited to get this full tube of Elate. The color, a light brown with a gold shimmer, gives lips just the right amount of neutral hue. It’s the perfect color to transition into Autumn with, and the texture is so creamy. Usually after wearing lipstick for about 20 minutes, my lips start to feel dry, but not with Elate! The shea and mango butter actually hydrate, making the wear on this a lot longer and very, very comfortable. This was my favorite product in this month’s box. I’m excited to explore Elate’s other lip colors.

3. Mahalo Pele Mask ($64.00)

pelemaskDescription: Ready for a truly unique home-spa experience? Pele Mask is a concentrated, intelligently detoxifying bioactive mask that transforms problem, tired skin to unveil glowing, paradise-radiant complexion. Activated by water, this astute formula metamorphs from dull powder to dark velvety mousse, swelling and sizzling as it brings to life the luxurious botanicals.

My thoughts: I definitely used too much water to mix this (2 teaspoons), so if you haven’t tried your sample, start with a single teaspoon. Because of my error, the mask went on a little light. However, I still really enjoyed the way it made my skin feel! I wish the sample was a little bigger, since I’ll only get about 2 uses out of it. I love how the mixture bubbles when the water activates it. This reaction definitely hearkens to its namesake, Pele, a Hawaiian goddess that resides in Kilauea’s caldera. The effect is very lava-like, which is a nice touch.

4. MSC Skin Care Exfoliating Body Scrub ($33.00)mscskin
Description: We’re not exactly morning people, but this delicious, invigorating body scrub has us eagerly rolling out of bed! Raw sugar exfoliates and removes dead skin cells, while a combination of shea butter, sunflower oil, and rice bran oil nourish fresh skin. Yum!

My thoughts: While MSC’s body scrub does not have me jumping out of bed in the morning, I love exfoliating scrubs! I used to make sugar scrubs with honey all the time in my “pregan” phase, but now that honey is off the table, I haven’t found a substitute to fill that void… until now! The grapefruit and spearmint scent is so refreshing, and I love how big the sugar crystals are. The scrub feels great and leaves skin silky soft. No more dead skin here. 🙂

Product Updates from August 2015’s Box:

I have continued to use Yarok’s Feed Your Shine serum and Modern Minerals Tea Rose Finishing Glow. Once I run out of both, I’ll definitely be re-purchasing! Although I had the same experience with JUARA’s Clove & Tumeric Anti-Aging Serum as another Amazon Reviewer, the several other Petit Vour subscribers loved it. 102 five star review and 106 four star reviews on the Petit Vour site are definitely enough to make me reconsider my initial opinion.

What were your favorite products from this month’s box? Let me know in the comments!
