Today was such a Petit Vour filled day. I got to take my August box goodies for a spin AND my full sized jar of Routine Cream arrived. Unfortunately, the Sexy Sadie scent has been sold out for weeks with no end in sight, so I ordered Lucy in the Sky instead. I haven’t had a chance to use it yet, but it smells great in the jar. Something about it is very similar to Sexy Sadie, but perhaps a bit less overpowering. I think it will be a great deodorant for everyday use, so I’m thrilled that it’s finally here! Especially since I just ran out of my Sexy Sadie sample this very morning. Can you say perfect timing?
August 2015’s box theme was “You’re Glowing,” which was fitting since all the products will help you get your natural glow on. Here is what was in the box:
Description: This high-performance serum boosts radiance and luminosity, and combats the signs of aging using a powerful combination of turmeric, clove flower, watermelon extract, sea algae, hyaluronic acid, and goji fruit.
My thoughts: I think this serum smells incredible, and my skin felt good all day after applying it yesterday night before bed. I wish the sample size was a bit larger – each pouch contains about two treatments, which means I’ll get 4 or 5 days out of these guys. I’m eager to see if I’ll notice much of a difference after continued use; however, the full-size product retails for $62.00, which is significantly higher than I could justify spending, especially since I have not seen earth shattering results. While this was a fun sample to try, I don’t see myself purchasing this in the future.
Description: Translucent with a delicate pink hue and just a hint of subtle shimmer to help minimize fine lines or flaws. Incredibly light weight. Provides an overall soft focus finish and glow.
My thoughts: This was, by far, my favorite product of the month. Although the usage instructions indicate that this product be used over foundation or alone for a flawless finish, I decided to use it as a highlighter. The picture makes the color appear darker than it actually is; I found the light pink complemented my skin beautifully. It reminded me a lot of Benefit’s High Beam, which I swore by in my pre-vegan days. As many of you know, Benefit still tests on animals (boo!), so I’ll be proud to wear Modern Minerals daily knowing that no creature was harmed in the process.
Description: Dual skin polishers and dissolving enzymes exfoliate dead skin cell build-up and unwanted debris in pores. Super-smooth Jojoba Beads and refined Bamboo Stem Powder gently polish the skin without irritating or tearing the surface. Fruit Enzymes dissolve dulling residue for ultra-smooth, ultra-soft skin.
My thoughts: Mychelle’s Fruit Enzyme Scrub has been my favorite face wash in the three months that I’ve been subscribing to Petit Vour. The scent is, not suprisingly, fruity but subtle, and the scrub was just as described – gentle, leaving my skin light and fresh. My face did not seem excessively oily today, which it typically does after using facial cleansers. Who knows, perhaps this face wash could be the one for me.
Description: Yarok Feed Your Shine drops absorb quickly into the scalp and hair, deeply penetrating, conditioning and bringing out hair’s inner sheen, while contrasting highlights and protecting your hair from the damaging effects of hot styling tools. The Feed Your Curls defining creme locks in moisture, heals spplit ends, puts an end to frizz, and defines each sumptuous ringlet.
My thoughts: My hair is not really curly, so the Feed Your Curls, while providing some waves, did not work wonders for my hair. Feed Your Shine, however, is a different story. As instructed, I massaged it into my hair and scalp last night. I was nervous that directly applying the serum to my scalp would make for a greasy, unpleasant surprise this morning. I was happy to wake up to a lovely head of hair that caught the light, but did not scream “oily” at all unsuspecting passerby. I love that it also protects hair against heat, since I’ve been curling and straightening mine a lot. The sample size will last me a couple of months, since you only need to use a few drops with each application.
What were your favorite products in this month’s box?
